Then, I slept in past my alarm. I woke up to find that I was three hours late for work and endured a one-week suspension. That was the best thing that ever could have happened.
Between sleep catching up to me and finally resting on my new pillow, I was in unwakeable REM sleep. I set six alarms so I would wake up, and I slept through all of them—the first red flag is that I needed six alarms to wake up. That’s not healthy.
That one-week suspension gave me time to get intimate with my new pillow, and then I bought another. Then another.
Before long I was sleeping right, and I felt like a million bucks. No more fatigue, no more unnecessary eating, and no more grumpiness. It was like I went back in time.
